Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and of agriculture. She was revered for her ability to make crops, especially grains, grow or to not grow. She also had some control over the weather and if she felt she had been slighted she could make people go hungry by restricting their harvest or making the weather unfavorable for growth. Hayride was chosen to represent the harvest, while Woodland Snow and Frosted Juniper were chosen to represent the chill of winter that she brought to the people of Greece when her daughter Persephone had been taken by Hades.
