Hermes holds several titles including Messenger of the Gods, the Greek god of trade, wealth, luck, fertility, animal husbandry, sleep, language, thieves, and travel, as well as the mediator between the realm of the dead and the kingdom of the living. In Roman mythology he is known as Mercury. 
 
He was known for his impish behavior and curiosity and invented the lyre, dice, and alphabet as well as the panpipes to help shepherds call their flocks. The creation of the dice led to him being favored by gamblers in his capacity for good luck and wealth. Coins were also struck with his image upon them. Hermes was also seen as the patron of travelers and symbols were set up on roadsides to act as guides and offer good fortune to any who passed them. 
 
He is beloved by thieves due to a tale where he stole half of his brother Apollo's herd and kept them hidden until they were discovered by satyrs in Arcadia. Hermes was permitted to keep the flock if he gave Apollo his lyre. There are tales where he has also stolen Poseidon's trident, Artemis' arrows, and Aphrodite's girdle. He is also a leader of souls to Charon on the river styx and in one tale saved Ares from a year long imprisonment from twin giants. 
 
We tried to blend all of his roles into this candle, including rich scents such as egyptian amber, moroccan cashmered, saffron cedarwood and other items that have ties to riches, travel, and trade. Pepper and port was added as a nod to thieves and pistachio dream cake was a nod towards his ties to dreams and sleep.
 
This fragrance is rich with ginger, fig, amber, tonka, soft pistachio cake, warm peppercorn, and a touch of cocoa butter.  He may smell sweet and innocent and cakey while unlit, but once his candle is burning more of the masculine scents of fig, musk, peppercorn, and rich ambers begin to shine through paying homage to his trickster personality.
